His Message

I wanted to share with you a little about myself and my family. I moved to South Carolina from Melbourne, Florida in 2001. I am a member of St. John United Methodist Church in Lynchburg, SC where I served as a Certified Lay Servant and Sunday School Teacher for 2 years and as Music Director for the Shiloh Charge (Asbury UMC and St John UMC) for 10 years. In 2015 I received my first appointment as a Part-time Licensed Pastor in the Florence District serving Warren Chapel UMC in Lynchburg and St. Paul, UMC in Wisacky, SC. In 2020, I was appointed to a cross-racial appointment as a full-time Licensed Pastor in the Greenwood District serving Mt. Lebanon UMC in Greenwood, SC, and Kinard UMC in Ninety Six, SC.
Through God’s grace, I received an Associate of Arts degree in General Education from Central Carolina Technical College; a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Community and Organizational Leadership from Columbia College, and on May 16, 2020, I received a Master of Divinity Degree from Hood Theological Seminary in Salisbury, NC.
I am married to Zenovia Vaughn and together, we have been blessed to carry out the plans for God’s purpose. Zenovia is a member of Asbury UMC and currently serves as a Certified Lay Servant in the Florence District. She has also served as President of the UMW for her church unit for 6 years and as Youth/Children Director which included the Youth/Children choirs. Together we have four beautiful children and eight adorable grandchildren.
For such a time as this, I believe that God has called us together to be blessed so that we can be a blessing to our community and the world. This is a new beginning for all of us, but scripture tells us in Colossians 3:14-17 that above all these things we should put on love, which is the bond of perfection, and let the peace of God rule in our hearts. For we are all called to be one body and to be thankful. And whatever we do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
In closing, I want you to know that I am humbled by this appointment. We look forward to becoming a part of the Springtime UMC family, trusting God as we move forward to unforeseen challenges and many opportunities to grow in grace.
